(frequently asked questions)

[2.] "Can I get an estimate over the phone?"

Generally the answer is no. We do offer quick turn around estimates on new construction when we can recieve blueprints or plans with dimensions. For residential re-paint work we generally like to see the property first.

[3.] "I'm looking for the cheapest painging I can find. Is that you?"

No. We most likely won't be the cheapest painting company you call. While we are very affordable for the level of service we provide we are under bid many times. We offer services that we believe are a step above those lower bids that our competitors are offering. We think our work speaks for itself in that department. If you're looking for apartment quality painting call someone else. If you're looking to have it done right at a the right price call us!

[4.] "What will it cost to paint my home?"

Many factors influence the cost of your painting project, including skill and equipment required, how quickly the work needs to be completed,  the condition of the surfaces to be painted, and of course the size of the painting project, to name just a few factors.  Some work, such as interior trim painting, and decorative painting, require a skilled craftsman, and so cost more per hour than jobs like wallpaper stripping and gutter cleaning, which require les skill. Some tasks, such as painting a two-story entryway, require special equipment and operational expertise, and so cost more than work to be done on the ground.  Painting jobs with a long time horizon cost less than tasks with urgency. Surfaces in good condition cost less to paint than surfaces that are peeling, rusty, or dirty.

[5.] "How will the work be scheduled?"

We know how important our client’s time is. Our all-star team of painting professionals is experienced and flexible, and able to accommodate most clients’ scheduling requests. In the majority of cases, the time requirements for a job are somewhat loose (i.e. “Paint house exterior before it gets cold out”), and we simply perform painting jobs in the order in which estimates are accepted and painting work is awarded.

[6.] "Who will do the work?"

The best painters in Central Indiana will apply paint to your home or office. We are uniformly professional, conscientious men and women who have demonstrated interest and discipline in learning the trade of house painting. All projects are completed by trained professionl painters with years of experience.

[7.] "Will it cover in one coat?"

While one coat coverage is possible we strongly reccomend two coats of paint. With the exception of only a few very expensive paints two coats are called for. There are many cans of paint out there that claim one coat coverage... it's just not true or wise. Paint is designed to take multiple coats. It will last longer that way. If you are painting the same color then it is possible to cover in one coat but usually only when there are no holes to be spackled or you are using flat paint. Any sheen higher than flat will show dull marks where the drywall repairs have been made if only one coat of paint is used. Usually we can spot prime those and do it in one coat. ...That is generally the case for number of coats.

[8.] "What colors should I use"

It’s your home and business; make it any color you like! If there are too many good options to make a choice, call us and we’ll help! Our team includes over 30 years of graphic design and home decorating experience, and we’ve painted enough houses to know what paint colors look good (and not so good…..).

[9.] "How long will it take the paint to dry?"

For most interior painting and exterior painting with standard latex paint, the surface is dry to the touch within an hour. The paint can take several days to fully cure, but it won’t rub off if you brush against it. So, if you want us to paint your bedroom, you won’t have to miss a night’s sleep. Some specialty coatings, such as garage floor paint and specialty commercial paint, stay wet longer and require an area to be “off limits” for a few days.

[10.] "Do I need to prepare the room for you by moving furniture etc.?"

Our professional painters are happy to prepare a space for interior painting, including moving furniture. If you want to help us out by getting the room ready for painting, we appreciate it.

[11.] "Can I borrow a fan deck (chip book)?"

Yes, if few have any left! Those painting color decks are popular. We always have a color deck in our painting trucks, so there will be one around for the painting estimate and while painting work is being performed. For interior painting work, we typically leave a deck with our client for a few days to assist in choosing paint colors.

[12.] "Should I paint my exterior aluminum siding? What about gutters?"

Yes, if you want to. We’ve painted a lot of exterior metal surfaces, on both residential and commercial paint jobs, including a great looking residential exterior paint job in Speedway, IN that can be seen on our gallery page. On commercial paint jobs, there is usually an obvious reason for the paint application. On residential jobs, the primary reason for applying paint is aesthetic. In many cases, older siding or guttering looks a lot better with a coat of paint. However, if it’s painted once, it will have to be painted again. Be wary of adding maintenance to your home.
